Natalia Konyt

Наталя Конит

Natalia Konyt became a member of Sts. Cyril & Methodious Ukrainian Catholic Church in St. Catharines on the very same day she arrived in Canada in February 1962, and has now been a very active member of the Ukrainian Catholic Women's League of Canada (UCWLC) at the parish for over 63 years. In that time, she has performed many functions including supporting the priest and serving as a cantor at the daily morning Mass, visiting sick and elderly parishioners in hospital and in their homes, and providing transportation assistance for seniors to church on Sundays and holidays, to medical appointments and for grocery shopping.

Mrs. Konyt was also the longest-serving President of UCWLC-St. Catharines, holding that position for 22 years, and continues to serve as Spiritual Chair on the Eparchial Executive. She founded the "Марійська Дружина" and leads monthly Holy Rosary prayers for peace in Ukraine. Mrs. Konyt writes Easter eggs and leads workshops at her parish, youth organizations SUM and Plast, and at the Ukrainian School. For 44 years, she has also been an associate volunteer for the St. Vincent de Paul Society, mending broken rosaries and ceramic statues of Saints.
